"The first draft of 'The Saga' running to about 260 pages is complete and it is hoped to publish it through an online publisher, probably Lulu.com. Entitled 'Cheerful with insufficient reason' after one of my mathematics reports from 'Q' it covers the period 1938-43. One way and another quite a few form-mates have been found during the process of writing.

"What is needed now are some photographs of staff and school, in particular, do you have access to head and shoulders portraits of the staff, alternatively a good copy of the staff photograph of 1943, said by Ted Lawrence to have been taken on the occasion of Mr. North's retirement. Have also spotted on the website a photograph of 'Emma' and 'Solly'.

Those staff in whom I am particularly interested are Miss Staples, Miss Fothergill, Miss Emery, Miss Drummond, Miss Capewell, Miss Rudwick, Miss Gatehouse, Dr. Rogers, Bill Comber, Solly Galin, Jack Long, Mr. Quartermaine, Bill Pretty, Mick Morris, Sam Elengorn and Gus Locke."

What you see on the website is just about everything that has come my way in the best quality I have, but if anyone else can help please do get in touch.

For those interested in a few glimpses of the building, and one of the old teachers (Mrs Burbage or something like that? I apologise for not catching the name), you can still see the show on iPlayer for seven days. One of his areas of research is into the wartime evacuees to Cardiff. He has the official records from the schools and the local Education department but would be interested from hearing from the evacuees themselves for their side of the story. It is known that a small contingent from Edmonton County School went to Whitchurch in north Cardiff in June 1940. If any of those people would be interested in helping Dr Strange then please do let Beryl know so you can be put in touch.

Autumn 2009 Newsletter.

The Autumn 2009 newsletter is now available online.

Photos of the ECSOSA lunch @ The Plough on 9th July 2009.

David Day took a number of photos at the lunch get-together on 9th July 2009 and these are available to view on Fotopic. ECSOSA's page on Facebook will remain for the time being as it does at least have some 'fans', even if it has no real content or activity.

Summer 2009 Newsletter available.

The Summer 2009 Newsletter is now available online.

Patrick Azimkar.

One of the two soldiers murdered in Northern Ireland in March 2009 was Patrick Azimkar who was a former pupil of the school.

Changes to the Facebook 'Page'.

Facebook have just changed their 'pages' into 'public profiles' without any notice whatsoever, much to the annoyance of those who have spent hours or days creating the old style page. Rather than being a single page the new layout is very much like user profiles with various tabs. This is an understandable change in a way but does show a lack of appreciation by Facebook as to how their own 'pages' were used, and a remarkable lack of courtesy to their users.

The ECSOSA page will be adapted to the new layout as best as possible.

Spring 2009 newsletter published.

The Spring 2009 newsletter is now available for download online.
