Photos from 1939–40

Beryl has dug out a couple of photos from 1939 for the site. The school's wartime years also have their own page on the site.

The first photo shows the school arriving at Braintree station in September 1939 with the pupils being marshalled by the staff. Beryl has identified a few of the staff and put labels opposite them. She also feels Miss Isabel Capewell may well be in there somewhere.

The Braintree issue of the school magazine included a photo of Bocking Place, where the school was housed. A more recent photo is featured elsewhere on the site. Janice Patient has lent her copy of the school magazine to the Imperial War Museum for use in a current exhibition (this is being written at the end of August 2005).
