The War Memorial

The War Memorial was unveiled at a service on 18th July 1948. It has been expertly restored and was reinstated to its place on the wall of the former Grammar School hall on 5th April 2012, having been temporarily mislaid and then kept in storage for a few years after the school hall was redecorated. A rededication service was held at the school on 12th November 2012.

The current head of the school, Dr Susan Tranter, would like to place a memorial book near the plaque with information about those who lost their lives and we would like to do something similar on the website. If anyone can provide any information on any of those on the roll would they please get in touch. We have attempted to research the pupils in our archive materials and have looked for their entries in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission database but have not always been successful. Some names can not be found in the CWGC database at all and with others there are several possible matches.
